‘I HAD TO FLEE BECAUSE ROCKETS WERE EXPLODING EVERYWHERE’ – Ghanaian Striker In Ukraine

Ukraine-based Ghanaian striker Raymond Frimpong has narrated his harrowing experience in the wake of Russia’s invasion.

The Zorya Lugansk forward said he had to flee to Germany for safety after rockets and bombs were directed near the area he was staying.

The 19-year-old said he was scared by the development, having never experienced war in his young life.

“I planned to stay in Ukraine, but then bombs began to fall, rockets exploded. I heard them with my own ears,” Frimpong said, as quoted by Footballghana.

“The war came very close and I was scared. I decided to flee. The road to Germany took a lot of energy. It’s scary, I’ve never seen war before.”

In late February, Russia President Vladamir Putin ordered an invasion of Ukraine, bombing some cities in the process.

Russia’s deadly invasion has led to several casualties, including soldiers, women, children, and even journalists.
