Comedienne and social media influencer, Afia Schwarzenegger has expressed appreciation to the Chief of Staff, Mrs. Akosua Frema Osei Opare, for her support towards the burial of her late father.
Afia Schwarzenegger revealed on her Instagram page that Mrs. Frema Opare donated 50,000 cedis to convey her father’s corpse from overseas to Ghana to be buried.
“A good mother who provides for her children. What would I have done without you? Without you, I don’t even know how my father’s coffin would’ve been flown into the country. I’m on my knees and I want to thank you.
“Thank you, my mother. God bless you…you gave me 50,000 cedis and asked me to inform you about any extra cost…which extra cost after the huge sum you gave me?
“People said God will bless me for giving my father a befitting burial. I divide such blessings into two and give you half of it.”
According to current reports, the President’s office will not give any financial assistance for the organization of this year’s Independence Day celebrations, as has been the case in previous years.
Under a ‘Wireless Message’ to all Regional Ministers (RMs) and their Regional Coordinating Councils, Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, the Chief of Staff, said that the country was in a state of emergency (RMCs).
She added that since the president is operating on a tight budget, it is unable to give financial assistance to the regions in celebration of Independence Day.
It has consequently been recommended by the Chief of Staff that the day be observed in humility.
This year, it will be held in the Cape Coast Sports Stadium with the theme “Working Together, Bouncing Back Better” to commemorate Ghana’s 65th anniversary of independence.
