Despite being accused of a bribery scandal that terminated his rule, former Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kwesi Nyantakyi was deemed excellent for Ghana football by Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin.

“We took down Ghana football when we brought down Kwesi Nyantakyi. “That is one of FIFA’s brightest spots”, Mr. Bagbin stated on Monday, April 4, 2022.

Mr. Bagbin claimed several in FIFA were astonished by Kwesi Nyantakyi’s demise.

Kwesi Nyantakyi was a FIFA Council member and CAF vice-president. Some thought Mr. Nyantakyi may have led CAF at some point in his career.

They asked what occurred when I met FIFA executives. Why did you do it?” Nyantakyi was a lively addition. He was extremely recognized and prominent, and Ghana football was up there.”

The Speaker described Kwesi Nyantakyi as a powerful figure who influenced global football.

“We thought we were only handling Nyantakyi. We didn’t know we were handling the whole of Ghana,” Mr. Bagbin lamented.

He also advised journalists to be more circumspect when questioning authority.

“Criticize us. Correct your children, but don’t break their hands or their legs. It will affect you. And that is where we are now, and people are calling on the government to forgive Nyantakyi and bring him back to assist.”

The Speaker mentioned Senegal’s development in football, citing the existence of a woman as FIFA’s Secretary-General, implying Nyantakyi was in a strong position to advance to the top of football administration.

In a June 2018 undercover program for BBC Africa’s investigative section, Africa Eye, Kwesi Nyantakyi was caught accepting $65,000 in cash.

Kwesi Nyantakyi was seen putting cash into a black plastic bag from an undercover reporter posing as a businessman interested in Ghanaian football.

FIFA originally banned him for life following the documentary, which Kwesi Nyantakyi battled.

Despite denying any wrongdoing, he admitted to violating conflict of interest guidelines. In his appeal before the Court of Arbitration for Sport, he admitted these (CAS).

CAS lowered Nyantakyi’s lifetime FIFA ban from football to 15 years and his sentence from $500,000 to $100,000.

The vociferous Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Mr Kennedy Ohene Agyapong claims investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas paid Ghanaian actress and comedian Afia Schwarzenegger to insult him.

According to Mr Agyapong, who has vowed to expose alleged corrupt deals of Anas, he has in his possession transcripts of Facebook chats between Anas and Afia Schwarzenegger to that effect.

“…If Anas will pay Afia Schwarzenegger to insult me and I have the Facebook conversations between them, I have it,” Mr Agyapong said in an interview with Accra-based Joy FM.

When quizzed about the authenticity of the Facebook chats given that Anas in the past has complained about persons impersonating him on social media, he said such justifications make the investigative journalist appear as though he is the smartest person on earth.

“You know, he gave his numbers to Afia Schwarzenegger… I know what time it is, you make him seem like he’s the smartest person on earth but he’s not. So how I got that information you will see.

“When I am responding you will say that I have to tone down. Look at the insults Afia Schwarzenegger has rained on me but everybody is preventing me not to speak because I can go down and down with this girl”.

Afia Schwarzenegger has in the past traded insults with Mr Agyapong on several television and radio programmes.

Meanwhile, the Assin Central MP is expected to face fresh allegations of contempt of parliament today for allegedly referring to the house as useless.

Lawyer and TV Host Sandra Ankobiah is heartbroken after watching Anas’ explosive video on corruption within the judiciary.Sandra Ankobiah instagramLike thousands of Ghanaians, Ankobiah was at the Accra International Conference Center to watch findings of the report by Investigative Journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas on the corrupt justice system in Ghana.

It’s safe to say she was overwhelmed by what she saw, leading to the ‘broken heart’ she suffered. She took to her Instagram account to share her thoughts.

Below is what she wrote.
I’m extremely heartbroken after watching Anas’ video yesterday, as I’m sure a lot of people are too. At the risk of being prejudicial, let’s all bear in mind the phrase “innocent until proven guilty.” My heart breaks because a perceived corrupt judiciary undermines the rule of law, the stability of the country, and the integrity of our entire legal system. May true justice prevail. God bless our judiciary. God bless the legal profession. God bless Ghana.

After Anas Aremeyaw Anas premiered his new investigative work, “Ghana in The Eyes Of God” on Tuesday, 22 September 2015 at the Accra International Conference Center, some celebrities have expressed their opinion via social media.

TV personality Afia Schwarzenegger and movie stars Ama K. Abebrese, John Dumelo and Kafui Dey who were at the first showing could not hide their shock with the evidence exposed about the judiciary.

John Dumelo who left the venue of the premiere few hours after the show had started also tweeted;

“After an hour of viewing the Anas documentary, I got up and left. It’s sad. Very sad. One thing the GBA should seriously look at is the conditions of service of judges. It’s like some live in chamber and hall. It’s sad. Let’s not point accusing fingers….what can we all do to help stop corruption.”

Afia SchwarzeneggerAfia Schwarzenegger“God richly bless u Anas Aremeyaw Anas… All our leaders must bow in shame….it is quite embarrassing and disgusting to sell Justice for 300 ghc, goats, sex… In the case of judge Derry begging for goat instead of sheep, Ajet Nassam angry cos his balance delayed, Justice Quist abandoning sitting to chase bribe …aaaaahhhhh but do u blame the judges when all u see is a wretched court!!!! We will rather renovate parliament with Chinese chairs n nonsense instead of fixing our courts n keeping an eye on our judiciary system…If I have to work in that filthy environment, I guess respecting the rules of that company will be difficult…” – Afia Schwarzenegger wrote.

“While we are criticizing, let’s keep in mind a great number of them refused the bribe and even threatened to Jail Anas! #JudicialScandal. 1. It’s not easy to bribe a judge! Anas mentioned in his movie the first three to six months was difficult …2. All the judges they approached declined .. they were about giving up six months into the operation then a court clerk phoned them!
