Highlife musician Kwabena Kwabena and his fellow musicians put up a great show last Saturday July 2, 2016 at the Banquet hall of the Statehouse but unfortunately couldn’t get a full house to enjoy the show.
The “Save a Life Concert” 2016 organized by KBKB Music in collaboration with National Cardiothoracic Centre, paraded high profile musicians to entertain and raise money to support needy children suffering from heart diseases.
Even though, the event was not well attended, as expected, the artistes did not disappoint patrons who took time to step out to the event. One after the other, the musicians from the likes of Joe Mettle, Tagoe Sisters, No Tribe, Dada KD, Amanzeba, Becca, Nana Quame , Kwabena Kwabena, Nero X and others rocked the stage and the excitement almost overshadowed the real purpose of the night which was to raise funds to save human lives.
This year’s concert attracted a host of Ghanaian celebrities like Ohemma Mercy, JOT Agyemang, Ekow Smith Asante, Fred Nuamah, Singer Becca, Ahuofe Patri, Salma Mumin, Babie Dapaa among others and the event was hosted by actor James Gardiner.
The night attracted quite an appreciable amount of donations ranging from GH₵100, $6000, $8000 to a number of well-established individuals who pledged to sponsor some children with heart diseases including their surgeries and their wellbeing after their surgeries and their education.
Kwabena Kwabena has applauded everyone who supports this charity project adding that this year was not just to raise funds but to also to have an educational campaign to create awareness about heart diseases and as far as he is concerned that was well achieved.
The concert since its inception in 2013 has managed to raise funds to help about 20 children with critical heart conditions. The foundation also seeks to raise awareness of the increasing pressure on the center and the number of patients who are just waiting to die with no one to lend a helping hand.
