‘MY STATEMENT WAS MISCONSTRUED’ – Yaw Tog Addresses Critics Over His Comment On Stormzy

Fast-rising Ghanaian rapper and Kumerican star, Yaw Tog has resurfaced on social media after he was dragged by a section of Ghanaians and some stakeholders in the music industry over her controversial statement about UK Hip-Hop icon, Stormzy.

Yaw Tog sparked a heavy controversy in the showbiz industry after she claimed that nobody knew about Stormzy in Ghana if not for his ‘Sore’ remix song that featured him.

The Kumasi-bred rapper’ statement comes after TV3 presenter, MzGee asked him how impactful Stormzy’s collaboration has been on his career.

“I made him more popular here too because people didn’t know Stormzy in Ghana here,” he told MzGee on TV3.

Radio presenter Sammy Forson said Yaw Tog’s statement is ‘the kind that unfortunately encourages selfish behaviour in the industry,’ adding that he should focus on his music.

“Yaw Tog’s comments about making Stomzy popular in GH are the kind that unfortunately encourages selfish behaviour in the industry… If u know what it takes to be a mainstream artist in the UK and playlisted into other parts of Europe, u won’t lose talk… Smh… Focus on your music,”Sammy Forson tweeted.

Well, in a new development, Yaw Tog has addressed the issue and he expressed disappointed that his words which he described as harmless on live television were misconstrued.

“It’s quite unfortunate a very harmless comment I made during a recent interview has been misconstrued by a few for whatever reason but regardless, we move. It’s Big Mike on the Remix,” he wrote.
