President and Executive Chairman of Eurostar Limousine, Mr. Oscar Yao Doe has expressed his disappointments as far as fashion on the red carpet at the just ended Vodafone Ghana Music Awards 2019 is concern.

Oscar, a well known fashion critic and enthusiast believes the various fashion styles exhibited at the event especially by celebrities is nothing to write home about and he lays the blame solely on Fashion Designers and stylists who styled these stars for biggest entertainment awards event in Ghana.

Mr. Doe who is head of the review panel of Ghana Fashion Review that rewards celebrities for their looks on the red carpet, shared his candid opinion on the VGMA 2019 red carpet via social after monitoring the awards night and red carpet pictures after the event.

He posted his opinion via the comment section of @Nkonkonsa’s Instagram page hinting that him and his review panel may revive the Ghana Fashion Review initiative to raise the standard again.

“This Year VGMA Red Carpet not impressive! I blame the designers! Almost about 90% of the dresses are not best crafted! I hope the designers will raise their game next time! Even though there have been a lot of improvement with all the efforts we made years ago to encourage red Carpet appearance in Ghana! We still have a long to go! Our designers have to pay more attention to details! We shall take a second look at perhaps reviving the Red Carpet appearance again! @nkonkonsa Please note: this comment is General and it’s my personal opinion”.

Some fashion influencers also agree with Oscar Doe’s opinion stating that there was no “wow factor” and creativity was considerably low on the red carpet this year compared to previous years.

The Ghana Fashion Review is an initiative instituted by car rental company, Eurostar Global Limousine Group, with support from,,,,, Starr FM,,, GHFashionMarketing, and 4Syte TV. The initiative aims to promote decency among celebrities in Ghana and beyond.

Since 2015 when panel was constituted, about $500,000 have been invested in awarding various celebrities to encourage them to take the fashion and glamour side of show business very serious.

Ghana’s foremost and most consistent celebrity red carpet fashion review body – the Ghana Fashion Review Panel have reacted to actress Yvonne Nelson’s recent rave on social media.

The “House of Gold” actress has questioned why movie stars in Ghana have now turned themselves into red carpet slayers instead of working hard to reviving the dead movie industry.

“Listen, let’s put in same energy to bring back the dead industry rather than slay on carpets cuz truthfully y’all know there’s no work!”, Yvonne tweeted.

She also stated in another tweet “The industry has so lost its way and they can’t even see it, they all going in that direction. Dressing up to be posted on SM”,

However, the Ghana Fashion Review Panel led by Mr. Oscar Yao Doe who is President & Executive Chairman Eurostar Limousine, disagrees with Yvonne comments.

Read the full unedited statement from the panel below:

“Slayers will always slay! Yvonne Nelson is totally wrong and she misunderstood the Era we are now! The Era of showbiz glamour sparkling across the Oscar’s, Grammy, Golden Globes, BAFTA, Cannes Film Festival, Venice Film festival, Berlin Film festival, AMVCA, etc.

It’s absolutely wrong to suggest that slaying or red carpet glamour is killing movie the industry in Ghana. The Ghana Fashion Review Panel thinks it has rather added the missing link into the Showbiz industry and it should be maintained. Look at what Zylofon Media alone is doing for showbiz industry in Ghana! Slaying is the only element to generate public interest in showbiz industry, and that’s why Nigerian stars including Omotola, Rita Dominic, Genevieve, Mo Abudu etc do take their red carpet appearances seriously, even though they are also considered bigger showbiz icons globally and because they understood the need to take themselves seriously before the public can take them serious! Long and short is that Ghana Movie is not declining thanks to companies like Zylofon and co it’s making some progress; we are hopeful many others will come on board soon to compliment it! Yvonne Nelson has done her best over the years for movie industry in Ghana, but it’s obvious these days because of social media influence and also times has change so public expectations in showbiz are beyond only movie casting.

Showbiz is too broad and very unique! someone can shine in movie casting and someone can shine merely by their personality associated with showbiz , others can also shine through red carpet or even shine been a showbiz pundit! So it depends on one’s own God giving talent or the person unique personality! Others can also shine through showbiz blogging, showbiz photography etc! Showbiz glamour is bigger and lager and it’s can not be narrowed, even slaying alone can be a big hit for someone if you have the talent! It’s well established and it’s also a global trend that stars can be made instantly sometimes through appearance so slaying and red carpet appearance can be a life changing for therefore showbiz fashion and glamour are all part and parcel of the industry depending on individual talents and ability to improve fashion or grown fashion techniques. And typical example is Kenyan born lupita who got her moment with 12 years slave movie and since then she has been riding high on her appearance”.

Actress Yvonne Nelson has been silent after her tweets went viral. Meanwhile, there has been mix reaction within the movie industry and on the media landscape over her comments.

Yvonne Okoro at Sparrow FestivalActress Yvonne Okoro has been adjudged by the Ghana Official Fashion Review panel as the Best Dressed Female Celebrity on the red carpet at the maiden edition of Sparrow Entertainment Festival 2016 day 1 on Friday January 8, 2016.

After a careful review of a long list of female celebrities who graced the red carpet at movie event which took place at Silverbird cinema in Accra, the panel was tasked to choose their top 3.
The well experienced panel led by Mr. Oscar Doe Executive Chairman of Eurostar Global Limousine Group, shortlisted the top 3 Best Dressed Female Celebs namely: Actresses Yvonne Okoro, Nana Akua Addo and Singer Efya.

It was a close call between Yvonne Okoro and Nana Akua but the panel feels Nana Akua lost points with her choice of Shoes. They believe a different colour would have been ideal, so eventually Yvonne Okoro stole the show with red gown.

Celebs are informed that if they fail to take pictures on the red carpet behind the official backdrop, they would not be reviewed because this is a strictly red carpet review.

Chairman of the fashion review panel Mr. Oscar Doe stressed that this review is not to push or force any celeb to go out of their way to buy expensive clothes from only foreign designers but rather encourage them to pay more attention to their public appearance and more especially on the red carpet.

“We Encourage Our Stars To Wear A Tailored Made Ceremonial Attire To Formal Events To Compliment The Occasion But Not “Necessarily Expensive Clothes”Our Concern For Ghana Fashion Has Been Made Clear And From This Day On Our Stars Will Take Public Events Appearance Seriously And To Inspire The Younger Generation!”, Mr. Oscar Doe stated.

Bravo 👏👏👏 we are very pleased after we scrutinized her dress strongly during her recent #GhanaMustGo premiere, and she has responded swiftly with this super gorgeous dress which we think it’s perfectly suitable for a red carpet event in any part of the globe! Colour on point and the most killing is her body language which showed how easily she carried her evening gown and dragged it to sweep the “carpet called red” with style without any apology, and this kind of appearance we expect from our Ghanaian celebrities so they can grow in confidence to attract Global Attention! We reward her with 9.5 points!

Nana Akua Addo

This his lady continue to prove herself without doubt as one of the emerging fashion Diva and Stylish in Ghana and she seems to have a deep knowledge and understanding about fashion, and she takes the “carpet called red” seriously and we believe she deserves all the attention she is receiving because she has been very consistent in her public appearance! Congratulations! We reward her 9.4 points!

Efya made a very impressive red carpet appearance her dress was on point especially her gorgeous scarf & hairstyle complimented and projected her dress very well 👏👏👏, and we think that gave her a deserving attention on the “carpet called red” we award her 9.3 points! The 2015 edition of Ghana Movie Awards happened at the Accra International Conference Center on December 30, 2015 and as usual, the stars paraded at the event to witness it.

There could be no Ghana Movie Awards without red carpet session so most celebrities who attended the awards were on the red carpet to showcase their costumes.

Among all the stars who graced the red carpet at the event, It appears that Gospel musician, Spt. Kofi Sarpong has received most negative comments about the outfit he wore to the red carpet.

The strongest of all the criticisms is from President and Chairman of Doscar Group Global Holdings Eurotour /Eurotour Logistics Eurostar Global Limousine Group Doscar Foundation, Mr. Oscar Yao Doe who commented on‘s official Instagram page, when the site shared a combined picture of Kofi Sarpong and Lilwin on the red carpet at the event.

According to Mr. Oscar Yao Doe, what the award-winning gospel musician wore to the event is not acceptable on red carpet. Making these criticisms on Instagram, he said organisers of the show should not have allowed Spt. Kofi Sarpong to appear on the red carpet due to his short pants.

Oscar gave thumps up to Kumawood Star Kojo Nkansa Liwin for his traditional wear to the event.

“Remove the gentleman with short pants from the post! It’s not acceptable to wear a short pants to a red carpet event! Lewis Hamilton was denied an entry into 2015 Wenbledon tennis final because he didn’t meet the dressing Protocol requirement and he apologise to the organisers later.

Such events are very important to express showbiz through Art & Culture/Fashion & Style With Elegance! It’s one of the important platform for which Actors are appreciated by the public base on their unique appearance on the Red Carpet! So it’s a serious platform for showbiz”.

Asked if he thinks Kofi Sarpong shouldn’t been allowed entry in the auditorium, Mr. Oscar Doe said “Absolutely! He was lucky to escape”.

However, when Mr. Oscar was asked about Lilwin outfit on the night this was what he had to say.  “Lilwin dress code met all red carpet Protocol requirement it was purely Ghanaian traditional wear(white Kente cloth) which is highly revered in our society, off course he added a little bit of drama which makes it more colourful

we need to encourage ourselves to create something special for our nation in every aspect of our endeavor especially the art industry & hospitality industry”.
