Ghanaian actress, Martha Ankomah has admonished actresses as well as Ghanaian ladies to make wise investments rather than doing ‘butt’ surgeries just to enhance them or beautify themselves and become the center of attention on social media.

According to the actress, it is wiser to use your money for wise investments like buying land, building a house, helping the less privileged, supporting the work of God.

She further explained that it is needless to go for a ‘butt’ surgery just to impress people.

The actress also added that if someone loves you, it won’t be because of your ‘butt’ but that which comes from within that is your sense of reasoning and personality.

Martha went on to admonish ladies to learn how to apply wisdom and also said that according to medical practitioners, a ‘butt’ surgery comes with lots of alarming side effects.

Martha Ankomah is a Ghanaian actress, model, film producer, director, entrepreneur, brand ambassador and philanthropist who shot to fame several years ago.

Speaking to Franky 5 on “This Is Gospel” on Hitz FM, the actress stated that individuals sometimes go beyond their means to do things for attention.

The social media didn’t come to help us at all in our days. It helps sometimes in a positive way but it didn’t come to help at all in a certain wayAnd sometimes you wake up in the morning and you think everybody is going and they are leaving you behind and there is nothing happening in your life. If you are not careful, you will think of doing something to put out there to get attention,” the actress added.

Martha Ankomah urged her colleagues and all Ghanaians to trust in God in troubling times and be rest assured that things will turn around for good.

“If the fear of God is in you, it will calm you down. It will take care of the issues. The peace of God will take control of your heart….It is not easy waiting. It is not easy being patient…but just don’t give up,” she advised.

Martha notes that a lot of ladies are exposing their nudity on social media for attention but she states that this is unnecessary. Martha Ankomah stressed that she desists from such activities because of her reverence for God. She has always maintained that so many celebrities exhibit fake lifestyles on social media and fans should not be swayed by what they see.

Beautiful Actress Rama Brew has been spotted after being off the scene for some time now.

The veteran actress/musician who has been away from the screens for a while was pictured at the recently held first ever Women In Film forum in Accra on Monday April 4, 2016 at Alliance Francee.

Auntie Rama spotting a beautiful African print was invited to the event as a senior resource person alongside young actresses including Nadia Buari, Martha Ankomah, Juliet Ibrahim, Yvonne Okoro among others.

Even though she age is not allowing her to be as bubbly and active as she used to be, she still look beautiful and healthy. Rama Brew

Rama Brew first came into the acting scene back in 1972 when she played lead roles in TV soaps of the day like “Avenue A” and “Villa Kakalika” which were written and produced by the late Joyce Addo of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC). She then starred in her first movie ” Farewell To Dope” for the then Ghana Films now known as TV3.

All these productions and others unfortunately ended up lost in a fire outbreak at the GBC.

In 1993 when Rama returned to Ghana after living in Europe for a few years, she was called upon by Wallace Bampoe-Addo to play the lead role alongside George Williams in the TV series “Ultimate Paradise”. The excellence of this TV soap became the springboard for other TV productions to step up their game in terms of the quality of production and acting.

“Ultimate Paradise” has won an award for best TV series and Rama personally won best actress award in 1994. Rama is also a jazz singer and the first female Ghanaian singer to popularize jazz in the country in the early ’90′s. She has also presented a children’s show on the now defunct radio ‘Groove FM’ in Ghana.

Rama has been very passionate about acting her entire life and as a way of giving back to acting what it has given her, she has been a judge on the TV3 youth music talent show competition called ‘Mentor’. When she’s not acting she spends her free time working on compiling her collection of motivational writings which she is turning into a book to be released soon.

Before her acting career begun, Rama started out with a childhood dream of pursuing a path in dancing which she still loves. Her father however did not encourage this passion so while waiting to study law at the University of Ghana, her aunt who was a writer/producer at the GBC offered her a starring role in a TV production—‘Avenue A’—from there it was on into acting, her love and passion.

Rama’s advice to the younger artistes like her daughter Michelle Attoh and nephew Chris Attoh, both accomplished actors has always been: ‘the sky is not the limit when you have the whole universe’.

The issue of skin colour discrimination is a serious problem in the make-believe industry not just Ghana or Africa but the world over, mostly against Africa actors.

The sensitive topic came up for discussion during the African Women in Film Forum held at Alliance Francaise in Accra on Monday April 4, 2016. Dark skinned Ghanaian actress Yvonne Okoro and light-skinned actress Nadia Buari have revealed that they were both denied movie roles because of the colour of their skin.

“I’m light-skinned and it is obvious. I get asked a lot of times if I feel being light-skinned contributed to the success of me being an established actress. No! It is wrong and I will tell you why; because I feel like you get to a certain place obviously because God permitted it. He put you there and because you are determined and because you have the talent. I am not trying to blow my horn but I feel like I’ve worked so hard to get to where I am…I have had a lot of roles where I wasn’t good enough because I was too light-skinned. For instance a certain movie producer called me and said she wanted me to be part of her movie …and I felt I really wanted to be part of her movie. But the one thing she asked me was, ‘I think you are too light-skinned; is there a way you can tan?’ And I was like, ‘Wait a minute. What do you mean [by] tan?’ And she was like, ‘Go in the sun and get brown.’ And I said to her, ‘I don’t know if you have seen me before but I’m almost like an Obroni (white).’ And she said, ‘Well like I wanted you to play a sister to other dark characters…’ And I wasn’t favoured. I don’t think light-skinned actresses are favoured because they are light-skinned. I feel like you have to possess talent. You need to have the drive and you need to have God on your side. You need to earn that and not really about you being light-skinned or any complexion. And please, it is wrong,” Nadia said.

Actress/Producer Yvonne Okoro also shared her experience:Yvonne Okoro forum

“…I remember I was told that I am not too fair, which is weird to me because a lot of people don’t talk about that. In our industry there are times that you are not a certain type of way or you are not a certain type of colour so you don’t appeal to the masses.

But now that people have come to understand and believe that black is good, we are all different types of humans, we can’t be the same. We all can’t be light or black…so now as much as there is negativity in terms of how they want people to look, I think that we have changed to a certain point.

We have come to accept certain things- which are our colour, how we look- and in a way we don’t let people dictate who we are and what one should be. It is now not about how you look but the kind of story you are telling. The content we sell to people is changing,” Yvonne said.

Popular actresses and female producers Juliet Ibrahim, Martha Ankomah, the legendary Rama Brew and producer Helen Omaboe among others also shared diverse opinions on the topics discussed.

The African Women in Film Forum was organised by Golden Movie Awards in association with the African Women’s Development Fund on Monday to among other activities empower women in the movie industry to use their movies to change certain negative beliefs about the African woman.

Jackie who was spotted with her ex-husband Peter Agyeman in public for the first since they divorced in 2012, has shown clearly that she has gotten over her divorce and she definitely doesn’t want anything to do with her old flame (at least not in public).

Jackie who was a maid of honor was spotted by celebrity gossip site having a chat with Peter apparently finding out if he was okay at event, but when Jackie realized cameras tried to capture her and Peter together, she quickly run off saying “I don’t want you people to do any story about us”.

Even when the paparazzi confronted her to pose in a group picture with Peter included, Jackie refused and she avoided standing close to Peter all through the event after that incident.

Meanwhile, Peter was calm and quietly observing his ex-wife act as though he was her worst enemy. Speaking to Peter said he has no problem whatsoever with his ex-wife as he was seen posing with other movie stars including Martha Ankomah, Majid Michel, Fred Nuamah among others.
