BLACK SHERIF GAVE ME A RUN FOR MY MONEY” – KiDi

Ghanaian Afrobeat singer, KiDi has admitted to having feared the impact of Black Sherif prior to the announcement of the VGMA Artiste of the Year.

The Artiste of the Year is the most prestigious award category in the entire Ghana Music Award scheme and every artist who gets nominated in that category hopes to win it to have the bragging right in music in the year under review.

This year’s VGMA Artiste of the Year category was keenly contested by Sarkodie, KiDi, King Promise, Joe Mettle, Black Sherif, and his label mate Kuami Eugene.

KiDi who lost the award to Diana Hamilton in 2021 was hopeful to win it this year after picking four awards for Best Reggae/Dancehall song, Album/EP of the Year, Afrobeats/Afropop Artist, and Vodafone Most Popular Song.

Though he was confident, his only fear according to him was Black Sherif who made waves with his three-song releases in the year under review.

According to KiDi in an interview on TV3 with Cookie Tee, Black Sherif was the only one in the category who gave him a run for his money.

He stated that the battle line was drawn between himself and the ‘Kwaku the Traveller’ hitmaker when Deputy Minster for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mark Okraku Mantey mounted the stage to make the final announcement on the night.

KiDi CROWNED VGMA ‘ARTISTE OF THE YEAR’

Afrobeat singer, KiDi has been crowned the 2022 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards Artiste of the Year after he lost it last year.

KiDi eyed the most coveted award last year but it eluded him in the end when Gospel musician Diana Hamilton picked up that award.

The Lynx Entertainment signed artist won five awards on the night of Ghana’s biggest music event in the calendar year.

He won the Best Reggae/Dancehall song, Album/EP of the Year, Afrobeats/Afropop Artist, Vodafone Most Popular Song, and Artist of the Year.

He has now been crowned the Artiste of the Year beating competition from Black Sherif, Sarkodie, Joe Mettle, Kuami Eugene, and King Promise

“I WILL BE GOING TO THIS YEAR’S VGMA WITH AN OPEN MIND” – Kidi

Many believed KiDi would win the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) this year after receiving a 3Music Award for Artiste of the Year and nine nominations.

Dennis Nana Dwamena, on the other hand, isn’t letting the award or the nine nominations bother him since he believes he has a chance to win the main prize this year.

Last year, he went into the same battle with the same weapons—the 3Music Awards Singer of the Year title and nine VGMA nominations—and was much favored to win, but was defeated by gospel singer Diana Hamilton, who walked away grinning with the awards.

That night, he encouraged his followers by saying, “I’ll be back” each time he took the stage to accept an award (there were four in all), but admirers of the Enjoyment hitmaker were disappointed at the end of the night, venting their rage on social media when he missed it.

In an interview with Graphic Showbiz, KiDi stated that he had read and heard remarks and recommendations implying that winning the VGMA ultimate prize was a foregone conclusion following the annexation of the 3Music Awards last month.

“There is no link between the two award schemes that would make me the most popular nominee. As happened last year, awards may go either way, so I’ve opted to remain open-minded about the conclusion this time. Last year’s expectations were sky-high, especially after I won Artist of the Year at the 3Music Awards.

By God’s grace, I won Artiste of the Year at the 3Music Awards again, but that doesn’t mean I’ll win the VGMA Artiste of the Year. “All I can do now is hope and pray that my supporters will continue to vote for me,” he stated.

‘KUAMI EUGENE AND KIDI SHOULD HAVE WORN KENTE OR FUGU ‘SMOCK’ TO PERFORM AT O2 INDIGO’ – Ziega fires

Entertainment pundit and media personality, Nana Frimpong Zeiga has slammed Afrobeat musicians, Kuami Eugene and KiDi for their failure to promote Ghana via their attire during their London show.

Kuami Eugene and Kidi performed at O2 Indigo two weeks ago and their concert was a success as the event facility with a capacity og 2,800 was fully packed with music lovers and fans.

Even though Ghanaians praised the sold-out event, Nana Frimpong Zeiga feels they might have done better.

“We create history with this sort of show,” Nana Frimpong Zeiga stated of their performance. To me, making history with our creative skill and not selling Ghana is ordinary.”

The radio broadcaster stated their night’s attire was out of character for the Ghanaian culture.

“Even if they weren’t required, they could have marketed Ghana with their clothes. I object to their clothing code. Kidi, you can only wear this in Ghana. But they were dressed like westerners, and it was March 6th. In Ghanaian garb. That will not remove anything from them,” he grumbled.

The cantankerous presenter urged Ghanaians to remain patriotic.

“We should focus about what we can do for Ghana, not what Ghana can do for us. Osibisa and Asabeah Kropah have sold Ghana in larger auditoriums. He said, “They went and sold Kente to them.”

Lynx Entertainment’s signed artiste, KiDi has revealed that there was no form of hate and envy for his label mate, Kuami Eugene when he made a name for himself in the music industry even though he was signed by Richie before the latter.

According to the reigning 3Music Artiste of the Year, he felt very calm about it before throughout his life he has lived by the principle that when the time is right, he will also make waves in the industry.

KiDi added that he has always seen the music business as a marathon and not a race so he was cool about how the things turned up.

He ended by offering a piece of advice to upcoming acts who are eager to blow by telling them that they should understand that someone can just become a household in the industry while others may take years so they should take it easy on themselves when they are not quickly getting the attention they need.

KIDI CROWNS KWESI ARTHUR GHANA’S MOST S£XY OVER THIS PHOTO

Singer and 3 Music Awards ‘Artiste of the Year’, KiDi has taken to social media to crown his colleague, Kwesi Arthur as the s£xies Ghanaian man alive.

Kwesi Arthur’s declaration is in reaction to a photo of Kwesi Arthur wearing a shirt showing off his body and KiDi reacting to that decided to make fun of him by calling him the most s3xiest boy or man in Ghana.

KiDi sometimes does more than Kwesi Arthur did but he is making fun of him because it’s the first time a photo like this of the rapper has gone viral since he has always tried to keep a low profile.

For someone who tries his best to keep off social media drama, no one expected to see Kwesi Arthur this way, and guess that is the reason why KiDi is making fun of him.

I HAVE BAGGED MORE AMBASSADORIAL DEALS THAN KIDI’ – Kuami Eugene Brags [VIDEO]

Ghanaian Highlife musician and music producer, Kuami Eugene has bragged that he has more endorsement deals than his label mate , KiDi.

The ‘Walaahi’ hitmaker boasted of how he got more than five ambassadorial deals at the same time because of the enormous love Ghanaians have for him.

He explained that his kind of craft has always been for the masses and people of all ages, unlike his colleague who does most of his songs for a particular group of people.

He made this commentary during an interview with Radio One, Kuami Eugene stated that he is able to get so many ambassadorial deals because his brands believe that he targets the young, old, men ad woman with his music.“

I don’t think so. Our brand meets when it comes to the youth because I have been on international shows with him. But what makes my brand a little from him is the masses. I’m known as the son of all the people Ray why I’m able to get more than five endorsement deals to myself. When the brand is for young people, girls, boys, and energy, you can pick Kuami. I didn’t come as a Dada ba so I won’t come and act like one.” he said.
