The president of Ghana, H.E Nana Addo Dankwa-Akufo Addo has vowed not to approve same sex marriage under his tenure.
This comes on the back of the uproar on social media and on the streets of Ghana by Ghanaians demanding his intervention in the matter after an LGBTQI office which was recently commissioned in Ashongman, Accra was closed down.
President Akufo Addo made this declaration at a ceremony in Mampong where the second Archbishop of the Anglican church was installed on Saturday, February 27.
In his words
”I have said this before and let me stress again that it will not be under the Presidency of Nana Akufo-Addo that same sex marriage will be legalised in Ghana. It will never happen. Let me repeat, it will never happen.” he said.
