Call it the Oscars of the East Coast and you are far from the truth.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Benefit lived up to its reputation on Monday night May 1 2016 as some of the biggest names in music, film, and the runway arrived wearing ornate costumes created by the world’s premier fashion designers.

Co-host of this year’s Met Gala, Taylor Swift, arrived in a futuristic silver Louis Vuitton mini-dress with a cutaway design; the edgy costume included knee-high leather strappy stilettos and Gothic dark red lip paint.

Following last year’s theme, China: Through the Looking Glass, last night’s Met Ball had a futuristic focus to inaugurate the new exhibition, Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology. It saw its starry guests make a typically glamorous return to the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s red carpet, with most choosing outfits in keeping with the fashion and technology theme.
