MISS UNIVERSE GHANA 2017 LAUNCHED UNDER MENAYE DONKOR

We are excited to announce a new dawn of the 25th Miss Universe Ghana competition in commemoration of Ghana at 60 has been scheduled for 2nd September 2017 in Accra.

Event organizers, MALZ Promotions, under the directorship of Miss Universe Ghana National Director, Mrs Menaye Donkor Muntari, stated at the press launch on June 8th, 2017 that preparations are underway for an elaborate and exciting event.

Applications are being accepted now for review by a panel. The application process is simple. Prospective applicants must complete and submit the entry form on the official Miss Universe Ghana Pageant website www.missuniverseghanaorg.com.

Applications are open to Ghanaian women living in Ghana and throughout the diaspora between the ages of 18 and 28 years, who will be eligible to compete for the ultimate chance to represent Ghana in the global competition.

The women who compete in the Miss Universe competition must embody the modern, global aspiration for the potential within all women. The Miss Universe Ghana team believe that this is what true beauty personifies.

Miss Universe is an annual international beauty pageant held over a three week period in a selected host country. Each participating country hosts a competition to crown a winner that will then go on to represent her country in the international competition.

ZYLOFON MUSIC SIGNS BECCA

Afro-pop singer Rebecca Acheampong, known in the music scene as Becca, has officially signed on to entertainment company, Zylofon Media.

Although Zylofon Music did not disclose the amount involved in the deal with Becca, BEATWAVES learnt that Zylofon Music paid good money to get Becca on board.

At a ceremony held at the Zylofon office in Accra to introduce Becca, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Zylofon Media, Nana Appiah Mensah, thanked the singer for accepting to work with his company. He promised to help push the brand to a notch higher.

The ‘Daa Ke Daa’ singer on her side also thanked the media in Ghana for its continuous support throughout her 10-year stay in the music industry.

She promised to work hard so that Zylofon Media does not get disappointed.

The songstress, announcing her decade anniversary, disclosed that she would release an album and organise a concert to commemorate her 10 years in the Ghanaian music industry.

The just-ended Ghana Meets Naija Concert 2017 lived up to expection.

The 7th edition of the event which took place at the Accra International Conference Centre on Saturday May 27, 2017 saw performances from West African giants as Falz, Davido, M.anifest, Tiwa Savage, Shatta Wale, Lil Win, young DJ Switch and several others.

Ghana’s DJ Nii Aryee Tagoe, DJ Vyrusky, DJ Lord, DJ Obi (Nigeria) all mounted the decks to keep the charged atmosphere at a constant high, which they did to perfection.

From all indications, organigers of the event seem satisfied with the outcome of the event and patrons got an event worth their money.

At the end of it all, Ghana’s Dancehall artiste Shatta Wale was crowned king of the night.

MENAYE DONKOR APPOINTED AS DIRECTOR OF MISS UNIVERSE GHANA

Entrepreneur, philanthropist, and former Miss Universe Ghana, Menaye Donkor has been appointed as the Miss Universe Ghana National Director and her company, MALZ Promotions will handle all aspects of event direction, show production and selection of Ghana’s next representative to the international pageant.

“As a former titleholder, the Miss Universe experience taught me a great deal and has shaped me to be the woman I am today. I am very passionate about building and maintaining the reputation of the Miss Universe Ghana pageant in my role as National Director. I am also extremely motivated to offer the same opportunities that I was given to other young Ghanaian women,” says Donkor who won the title in 2004 and went on to represent Ghana at Miss Universe in Quito, Ecuador and was voted among the top 5 beautiful faces in the competition.

The Miss Universe Organization is built on a foundation of inclusion and continues to celebrate the diversity of women. Ten thousand young women around the world participate in Miss Universe pageant events annually. The mission of the organization is to provide the tools which help women to be their personal best. Self-confidence is the key. Every woman should have the confidence to stand up in any situation and declare, “I am confidently beautiful!”

Many contestants and titleholders that have gone through the Miss Universe system have cultivated their personal career goals and advocated for humanitarian issues with careers in government, business, finance, broadcasting, and film and television.

“Participating in Miss Universe taught me how powerful I am as a woman, and through it I have become resilient and capable to do all things I put my mind to. As they say, “Once a queen, Always a queen” and as a former Miss Universe winner, I will continue to represent Ghana at the highest level wherever I go in the world,” adds Donkor who has also developed and founded the luxury Italian skincare brand SHE-Y which uses ethically-sourced Shea butter from Ghana. SHE-Y plays a part in creating more job opportunities in Shea Butter production and donates a percentage of sales towards The Menaye Charity Organization which provides free quality education for hundreds of less fortunate children at The Menaye School of Hope.

Following the press launch event on 1st June, Miss Universe Ghana Organization will begin accepting applications towards the competition which will take place on 2nd September in Accra. Interested Ghanaian women living in Ghana and abroad may enter to participate in Miss Universe Ghana at the official website www.missuniverseghanaorg.com beginning June 1st. The Titleholder will go on to represent Ghana at the 2017/2018 Miss Universe Pageant.

The Miss Universe Ghana Organization will host a press event on 1st June 2017 at Carbon, located in the penthouse of Icon House from 6-9pm to announce details for the upcoming Miss Universe Ghana competition that will occur in September. TV/Radio personality, KOD will serve as host of the event that will bring media, sponsors and dignitaries together to celebrate the pageant which Ghana has participated in since 1991.

The maiden edition of the Ghana Entertainment Awards USA took place at the Florence Gould Hall Theater in New York (USA) on Saturday 20th May and awarded musicians and people playing significant roles in the entertainment and media world. Award-winning and evergreen Dancehall/Reggae star; Samini and the beautiful goddess Haillie, were hosts of the event.

EMY AFRICA AWARDS 2017 OPENS FOR NOMINATIONS

Organisers of the annual Exclusive Men of the Year (EMY) Africa Awards say nominations are open for the 2017 edition of the awards.

The awards, dubbed EMYs and in its second year, recognises and celebrates great achievements by men.

Exclusive Men’s Magazine, Carbon AV and Mediaspace Cyber Media, organisers of the awards said in a statement that EMYs’ “purpose is to celebrate excellence and to inspire the young generation of men to aspire to reach the heights of the astute gentlemen who are celebrated every year at the Awards.”

The deadline for the submission of nominations for this year’s event is May 25, 2017. Interested persons can go to www.emyafrica.com for more details about the award categories and the nomination process.

Nominations, organisers explained, are handled by the EMYs Faculty which is a technical team of eminent members, “strategically drawn from diverse corporate and social backgrounds to oversee the collection, collation and aggregation of nominations across the country for this competitive award.”

At last year’s event, renowned Ghanaian businessman, consultant and politician, Dr Paa Kwesi Nduom was adjudged the Ultimate Man of the Year.

Other major winners on the night were Apostle Kwadwo Sarfo Kantanka, Dr Kwame Osei Despite and Dr Kwabena Duffuor. Nathan Kwabena Anokye Adisi (alias Bola Ray) and Kwami Sefa Kayi.

In the female category, Dr Beatrice Wiafe of the Breast Care International won the Ultimate Woman of the Year award. The second edition of the EMYs is slated for June 27 at the Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel, Accra.

Ghanaian acts, Shatta Wale, Sarkodie and Nigerian Acts Tekno and Davido will headline this year’s edition of Ghana Meets Naija.

Chief Executive Officer of EIB Network, and founder of Empire Entertainment, Bola Ray, organizers of the show disclosed this in an interview on Live FM.

“Alright so let me give Live FM an exclusive, Davido is coming through,
confirmed and signed. Davido is on for Ghana Meets Naija. Sark is making a return, we have Shatta (Wale) as well…they should also look out for Tekno.”

The annual music concert sees Ghanaian acts pitched against their Nigerian counterparts to determine who has the upper hand in the music industry on the continent.

This year’s edition will be held on May 27 at a yet to be named venue.
