I WILL NOT PRESSURE MY BABY DADDY TO MARRY ME – Yvonne Nelson

Actress Yvonne Nelson has confirmed in an interview with WOW magazine that she actually got pregnant out of wedlock and she wants to get married like any other woman.

She told the magazine: “at a certain age, you want to have kids and you meet a responsible guy who hasn’t yet proposed but wants the same thing–it depends on you and him.”

On marriage, she said: “Marriage is scary but of course I would like to have child to have a Dad around. We would love to have the ideal family setting. As I said, I can’t marry myself, someone would have to marry me of course. So yeah when it happens, I will be glad. I don’t want to put pressure on anyone.”

MY CAREER HAS AFFECTED MY PERSONAL LIFE– Berla Mundi

We all have that one thing that drives us crazy and until it is achieved or fulfilled, we have no peace. Well for bubbly radio and tv presenter, Berla Mundi, what gives her sleepless nights is success.

Berla told Showbiz in an interview last Saturday that she has a grand desire to be successful. “I’m very greedy when it comes to success.

“Everything that will help build my brand, image and boost my career, I’m all for it. I can’t just imagine being in the background with my career. That is not me at all because I work hard for the best. So when it comes to success, you can say Berla is greedy,” she said.

From all indications, it is safe to say she is well on her way to what she wants to be. From her Miss Malaika days, Berla has grown into an astute radio and television presenter and events host.

In the last year or two, she has had a very busy schedule combining duties on GHOne TV (Rhythmz, Glitterrati) and Live FM (Touchdown) with her events job.

For instance, last week Wednesday, she hosted the grand finale of the MTN Hitmaker reality show and three days after, she was back on stage steering affairs at the Miss Malaika finals.

An old student of Achimota School, Berla’s journey as a presenter started back in 2012 when she co-hosted Rhythmz with Black Boi on GHOne after participating in Miss Malaika in 2011.

Although she didn’t win, she won at something else as her job has brought her a lot of recognition and financial rewards.

However, living her dreams has definitely come with some sacrifices she has to make and her family and friends have had to suffer for that.

“My personal life has been affected because I barely have time for myself and family. My mummy becomes disappointed sometimes when I have to rush off for an assignment and she needs me,” she said.

With how big her desire is, it is normal that Berla wouldn’t want to remain where she is and she tells Showbiz, new things are coming. “I’m working on a new show. I feel it’s time to grow out of the space I already occupy.”

A first class graduate of the University of Ghana, Legon, Berla believes young ladies must work hard to get a fair share of the opportunities in society and she is fittingly the face of Live Girl Code Project, a women empowerment initiative.

She is full of praise for senior colleague, Anita Erskine, who she says is her inspiration. “Anita does so much for women and girls and her impact in the media industry is beyond imaginable. She’s ‘been holding my hands’ and I am grateful for her assistance,” she stated.

I STILL LOVE MY SON WHETHER HE IS GAY OR STRAIGHT –KKD

KKD at Ovation-Red Carol 2015

Ghanaian Broadcaster Kwasi Kyei Darkwah popularly known as KKD has finally reacted to news making rounds that his son has admitted being gay.

On Thursday November 2, 2017, Darkwa Kyei Darkwa, a London-based Ghanaian whose father is the infamous Ghanaian broadcaster, Kwasi Kyei Darkwah (KKD) made headlines with an interview he granted in london as far back as June, speaking about being gay and the difficulties he faced living under his parents roof when he realized he was gay at primary school level.

Darkwah Kyei Darkwah recently wrote an article titled ‘To be Young, Gifted, Black and Queer’ on intomore.com, saying he is gay but has had a difficult time coming out about his sexuality.

He said in the past he was quiet, obedient and often stayed in his room to prevent being noticed. But he is mature now and can no longer run away from who he is.

His father who is receiving a lot of backlash because his son has admitted being gay, has released a lengthy piece in defense of his son, Darkwah Kyei-Darkwah’s gay sexuality.

Kwasi Kyei Darkwa writes:

I have been notified of the eagerly re-published article on my dearly beloved son Darkwah Kyei-Darkwah’s speaking up on his acceptance of his sexuality.

His words were candid and courageous. “The first step to being happy is to be honest and embrace who you are in its totality.” -Anon.

His statement of his conviction and comfort with himself as a young man is a matter of an individual’s sexuality. Come joy or pain, sunshine or rain, success or failure, I will always love my son Darkwah Kyei-Darkwah and my daughter Ohemaa Asokwa Kyei-Darkwah.

My love, care and devotion to my children are non-negotiable. There are ex-wives and ex-husbands but there are no ex-children nor ex-parents. No truth nor lies, no malicious gossip nor ill-willed broadcast can ever change my love and devotion for my children no matter who they think they are.

Through divorce and a year after, I stayed strong through the storm as a single father to raise my son and daughter aged 7+ and 5+, working, teaching, cooking, cleaning, ironing, reading, driving, playing, flying, juggling, mentoring, role-playing and praying, all to keep their welfare paramount.

I have never ever shunned them as some strange and hateful persons would have the feeble-minded and gullible believe. The uncouth, green-eyed monsters and miserable plebeians’ obsession with the lives of those they secretly admire or hate can lead to some rather curious acts of malice.

I have plenty praise for all the Earth Angels; family, lovers and loyal friends who helped me through my work and studies to care for our kind, courteous and gifted children. Like all youngsters, they too have their highs and lows but they have been the joy of my life for years and still are.

Whilst the culture in which I was raised influenced me to lean towards raising my children as Asante, Christian, well-mannered, audacious, industrious, cosmopolitan and heterosexual, I do not consider it my place to pontificate, praise or condemn the sexuality any adult identifies with. Each of us is a sum of many parts and sexual orientation is only one.

I bow with respect to the culture of my people and habitat but I also respect the culture and choices of others in theirs. I am an open-hearted, open-minded tourist in God’s vast lands, who embraces all colour, race and creed: Religion; Atheist, Christian, Hindu, Jew, Muslim, Pagan or other,

Gender Identity; Male Female Queer or otherSexual orientation; Heterosexual, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transvestite or other, andSkin tone; black, brown, yellow, pink, white, pale or other I have seen, encountered and worked in offices and at corporate functions, exhibitions and stately banquets with them all.

What I have learnt through travel and open mind is that they have more similarities than differences with you and I. We all have a shared humanity even though we walk and talk differently, dress and stress differently, win and sin differently.

My admiration and respect for the talents of Oscar Wilde the thinker, writer and aesthete, Tom Ford the designer and film maker, Tim Cook the CEO of Apple, David Geffen, co-founder of DreamWorks Animation SKG Inc. and investor in Apple, Peter Mandelson the producer turned politician, Queen Latifah, rap artiste and actress, Ellen DeGeneres, Anderson Cooper and Don Lemon the broadcasters, Ryan Murphy the writer, director and producer of Glee, Edward Enninful, first black editor of style Bible Vogue and Sir Ian Murray McKellen, CH, CBE (born 25 May 1939) the English actor, recipient of six Laurence Olivier Awards, a Tony Award, a Golden Globe Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award, a BIF Award, two Saturn Awards, four Drama Desk Awards, two Critics’ Choice Awards, two Oscar nominations, four BAFTA nominations and five Emmy Award nominations are not diminished by their sexual identity nor orientation.

My son Darkwah is a gentle, creative, confident, erudite and hard-working 23 year-old who has studied Fashion Design and worked as Sales Executive for Harrods and Givenchy, Sales Executive then Stylist – Luxury Accessories for Tom Ford, Account Executive for Haddon PR and is now Fashion Editor for the Gay Times, arguably the world’s biggest magazine in its genre. And yes I love him, I admonish him, I scold him and I celebrate him as a loving father.

Whats your difference? Whats your talent? What’s your sin? As you ponder whether to accept and share yours in spirit and truth with the world, take a moment to ask yourself if those people and things you aim your wrath and persecution at are the cause of the state you are in.

Also ask your parents, and your children, if they would treat you the way you treat others in the event that your sexuality were any different. It warms my heart to see that my dearly beloved son has the courage and clarity of mind to speak up for himself, as everyone should to enable all live without narrow-mindedness, prejudice, fear and hate.

If each one would spend time doing something that brings them closer to realizing their goals, purpose and happiness whilst respecting the existence of others and safeguarding the environment and public purse, we would all be better for it.

All of us cannot be simultaneously happy with the way everyone finds their peace and happiness but we can agree to let what we see wrong in others never overshadow what is wrong with ourselves.

Whether my son says he is straight or gay, he will forever remain my dearly beloved son. Dig that.

Namaste????????

KKD’s SON ADMITS BEING GAY

Darkwah Kyei-Darkwah, a model said to be a son of popular Ghanaian broadcaster Kwasi Kyei Darkwah (KKD), has opened up about being gay in a digital magazine, intomore.com.

Darkwa says he had a difficult time coming out about his sexuality.

According to him, he used to hide it and remembered instances when he used to be very quiet, obedient and often stayed in his room so that he will not be noticed while living with his parents.

He has, however, gone past that stage in his life. He currently doesn’t feel the need to conform to anybody’s standard in terms of sexuality.

“The moment I realised I was gay happened in primary school. Someone called me gay as an insult and I responded with ‘so what?’ I was totally fine with it, but others weren’t and that was when the discomfort and shame with my sexuality started,” he told intomore.com.

He was featured on the website alongside other gay models with African backgrounds on issues they face as queer people of colour.

“Living under my parents’ roof, I was constantly hiding. I’d get home from school and be incredibly quiet, helpful and obedient. I stayed in my room most of the time. I was playing the role of the ‘ideal son’ so I could just skate by unnoticed. It wasn’t until I was no longer living at home that I started to realise I wasn’t anyone or anything I’d known so far in my life,” he said.

“I went through a lot of ups and downs, trying out new ways of dressing, trying out new friendship groups, and reinventing myself over and over again. I realise I did this because I was still trying to fit in a box – the stylish black guy, the cool and macho black guy, the femme, flamboyant and fun black guy. None worked because there is a lot more to me (and any person for that matter) than a stereotype. I am now very comfortable with my sexuality because I don’t feel I need to conform to any one image,” he added.

Meanwhile, back home in Ghana, being gay comes with grave challenges. It’s not accepted by majority and there have been moves to criminalise homosexuality.

The Speaker of Parliament, Mike Ocquaye Jnr, was recently reported have lashed out at human rights group Amnesty International who called on him to relax his stance on gay rights.

BOLA RAY STOPS GHONE TV NEWSCASTER FROM MOVING TO TV3

There is no joy in seeing one’s staff, especially in the media industry, poached by a competitor.

The radio and television business in Ghana, stuffed with some gifted personalities, has evolved into one of the most coveted crafts in the country, and the veiled rivalry among some media outfits has further compounded the issue.

This is what currently seems to be at play between two strong media entities, the Excellence In Broadcasting (EIB) Group and Media General Group; over a seasoned female broadcaster, Kemini Nyammani Amanor.

The anchor of a brunch time news programme, ‘Newsroom’, on GH One TV, was earlier reported to be leaving for TV3.

On Monday November 1, 2017, Media General released a statement on 3news.com that the GH One TV/Starr FM News Anchor was joining their fold.

A statement announcing the move read “Former GHOne news anchor Kemini Nyammani Amanor has joined the Media General Group. The move forms part of the Group’s quest to become Africa’s leading media conglomerate.

TV3, which is a subsidiary of the Media General Group as part of its 20th-anniversary celebration, is also focused on reshaping news and producing stars to remain Ghana’s Number One private television.

Kemini joins the group with years of experience in news presentation, production and reportage. She comes on board with a lot of expertise, having worked as the lead news anchor on Joy News TV, a presenter on Starr FM and many other radio stations”.

However, reports say Kemini has made a dramatic volte-face. Reliable sources confirmed to Zionfelix.net that CEO of EIB Network, Nathan Kwabena Adisi aka Bola Ray brought his influence to bear by putting a spoke in the wheel of the already done deal; halting the movement of the seasoned newscaster with one of the network’s subsidiaries, to a rival media outfit.

As at the time of filing this report, Kemini was reportedly preparing to return to her news programme on GH One TV.

The newscaster who doubles as the producer of her show, gained much recognition after she broke the news about some corruption at the Agriculture Development Bank which ultimately led to the removal of the then Managing Director.

Her work gained her recognition including a nomination for the Best Television News Anchor during the 2014 Radio & Television Personality (RTP) Awards.
